Cala Varques is located on the east of Majorca close to the coastal town Porto Cristo. This beach can only be reached by foot. The path leads from the coastal road (MA4014) close to the crossing toward Manacor past an old farm house. Public parking spaces are available. You then follow the path to a fence with a sign saying “privado”. You go through here and reach a pine forest with trees and bushes. You follow this path until you reach the turquois-blues sea. This 15 minute walk is definitely worth it. The bay shows resemblance to the Caribbean. Turquoise coloured water and white sand. The beach slopes gently into the sea and the water is crystal clear. At this beach there are no sunbeds and sunshades, and no beach bar. Pure recreation and simply enjoying the quiet. Sometimes one might come across a cow. Cows roam free in this area. The tourists view them as a special attraction. The nearest restaurants are located in Arta. Here, the restaurant “Roland” is highly recommended.
